Huntsville Birthday Celebration Is Racially Blind!

Happy birthday to Huntsville, Alabama. What's not so happy is the way this city's past is being covered up ignored and smilingly accepted. We must not forget that this city which is a top place for African-Americans to raise a family was once a rest haven for hatred against blacks. Huntsville smacks of racial injustice which needs national attention. With an alarming population of African-Americans locked up this city is depends on the revenue of blacks being arrested, fined and imprisoned. This city will not grow until its' racist past is exposed. This exposure will help curb the current racial injustices towards blacks. Only in a city with the history of Huntsville will one see a Confederate soldier on the court house lawn being glorified. These soldiers are a part of history. They represent exactly what George W. Bush expressed what America was about. These soldiers only represent a time when this country was split up and resulted in a civil war. Those who display these symbols realize that these symbols cause division. The Buffalo Soldiers monument will be placed in an area that gets little or no attention from city officials. The fact of the matter is that it should be placed on the court house lawn because they did work to hold this country together at a critical time. This city of Huntsville must face and confront its' racial past with an HONEST EYE and then the healing can start. It's obvious that city leaders and Africans-American leaders are behaving like cowards. The racial element in Huntsville is so deeply rooted that officials will not dare talk about it or take steps to make sure that ALL Huntsville citizens are treated fairly.

Where Is Huntsville African-American Leaders?

When it comes to African-American leaders who speak out on our behalf we're short. We're short because they are so stuck in the Civil Rights Movements of the sixties. The reason that you see little or no support from our youngest is because of these tired politicans who care about nothing but staying in office. At election time they become nervous about the positon that they hold so they go door to door trying to drum up votes. What's so obvious about all of this that once they do get elected they hide behind their desk and act as if their hands are tied behind their backs. Where is Richard Showers, SR? Where is Bob Harrison? These individuals are smiling during photo shoots but the citizens of district 6 and 1 feel betrayed by the campaign promises that have yet to be mentioned again after the election has passed. African-Americans in these districts must take a hard look at the leadership that has slid in the door with false promises of community uplift. We see the consoldidation of forces that hurt us and how desperate some candidates looked when needing our vote. The only thing that can change this is us keeping up pressure on these so called leaders. To join an effort to stop the hustle and step n fetch politics get out in the grassroots!

District 6: A political leadership dumping ground!

We have got to get more involved in the politics of district 6 where so much has happened to hurt economic empowering. It's also a district that is ripe for corruption and mismanagement. Many candidates made promises of inclusion of younger African-Americans in the political process. The leaders in district 6 worry more about how to stay in power than how to help the people. Well time is about to run out with KMT on the scene. What is KMT? It's an organization founded by Alabama A&M students who are putting pressure on leaders to perform. What makes them powerful? They have global support! Can they accomplish what they say? The are true to causes not new to it.
